Monique's September 2007 Update

Greg moved out last summer and I was enjoying my alone time for a while, until my friend Bill moved in temporarily. He's looking for a home purchase for his own. (Never a dull moment here.)

The house and yard renovations continue as usual and this summer's project was staining the fence, painting my outdoor furniture and growing grass. I've been much more successful with the last one and as usual successful in growing squash. Many of you have asked for photos of my home renovations. I've got the photos, I promise I'll send them out at some point!

The other big news was mom and Peter moved to Colorado. Yeah! They're now five blocks away in their own 100+ Victorian, which is keeping Peter superbusy. We see each other about twice a week. Our last day trip was to Cheyenne's Frontier Days. Peter loved it and I enjoyed shopping for the latest in Cow girl attire. The conclusion of the day was a Def Leppard concert after which we drove the two hours back from Wyoming.

I also had a wonderful time a few weekends back enjoying a Polo tournament in Glenwood Springs. Glenwood Springs is located on the other side of the Rocky Mountains about three hours away and it's a very cute Western town. The picture to the right is of the Springs themselves, which we enjoyed all day on Saturday. Sunday, my friends and I went up to a ranch (luckily Kristin had her Jeep) and watched Polo. Polo was brought first to Colorado and the version that took hold was "cowboy polo', not the British mint julep kind of Polo we're used back East.

I'm still heavily involved in my neighborhood having stepped down at President of the neighborhood association (Highland United Neighbors, Inc., HUNI) and now am just a lowly board member.

My life of leisure (now ended) has not been so bad. I had the opportunity to ski during those Tuesday powder days and was able to take a trip to Patagonia for a song. (Thank you frequent flier points.) For those that don't know exactly, Patagonia is the bottom two thirds of Chile and Argentina. I went with two of my buddies (Will and Drew) from Denver and we wound up meeting another guy who not only was from Denver, but very close to where we all live! As you can see from the photos, the scenery is spectacular.

There's not much more to report. I hope everyone is having a fabulous Labor day weekend! (or had, as this may take a while to send.)

Love,
Monique
