Bulgaria - Aug. 2008
Matt and I had a nice 23 hour stop over in Philadelphia. Victoria joined us and the three of us did the tourist thing in Olde City.
Since our flight was delayed two hours leaving PHL, we missed our connection in Paris, meaning that we were stuck there until the next day. "How horrible" to be stuck in Paris for 22 hours compliments of Air France.
Finally! We made it to Sophia and with a change of itinerary (and no luggage for a week, Air France lost it), we hit the highlights: Plovdiv, Sophia, the Black Sea, the Rila and Roddopi Mountains, beautiful archtitecture and beaches and lots and lots of monestaries and churches!

Melnik- Bulgaria's smallest, cutiest town, famous for its wine (the Bulgarians have a 3,000 year old grape called the Melnik) and its odd sand structures that dot the town.
The food in Bulgaria was awesome, especially the Shopska salad, pictured below.
